My husband and I are hoping to purchase a home in Glen, NY, about thirty minutes from where we currently live. We are in a village, very cute, but also somewhat claustrophobic. We are anxious for space, quiet, and the ability to return to the roots of a simpler time. We have a deep desire to tap into the pioneer spirit that wrestles within us, the spirit of people who worked with their hands and were rewarded with crops or canned food or clothing. We want the bright sunshine, the open spaces of acreage, and the backdrop of fields, woods, and a barn. We want the country life, and we are praying that this - or something like it - is in our future.
If it is, this blog will be about our various adventures - renovating the house, planting, canning...whatever simple activities that we learn as we try to recapture some of the skills and mindset of a time gone by.
